Pastor Robert Shipman was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania.  He was educated in the public school system of the General Braddock Area (now known as Woodland Hills School District).  After a young life of very limited church exposure, he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and received the "new birth."  Pastor Shipman received the call to the Gospel Ministry in 1974.  He served under the late Rev. Dr. Julius Ossie Neal until the latter was called home to be with the Lord.  In 1982 Pastor Shipman was called to serve at the Mt Ararat Baptist Church in Cardale, PA, where he remained for 91/2 years. 
In June of 1991 Pastor Shipman accepted the call of the Prince of Peace Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and continues his service here.  He is a graduate of the Rowan University of Glassboro, NJ; a Certified Teacher of Secondary Education with a major in Social Studies; and Certified in African Studies.  Pastor Shipman served for six years as the Director of Christian Education for the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention in addition to numerous other organizations and capacities. 
Pastor's theological training were through the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary of Pittsburgh, PA and most recently the Reformed Episcopal Seminary of Blue Bell, PA.  He has been married for 40 years to Yvonne Flood-Shipman, and have three children, Pamela Shipman, Robert "BJ" Shipman Jr., and Shavonne Shipman-Cook.  He also has four (4) grandchildren, Courtney "Honey" Gray, Marc "Deuce" Gray II, Sydney "Sweetie Pie" Shipman, and Yvonna "Queen Bee" Shipman.  His greatest joy is preaching and teaching the gospel, and encouraging the saints.
